day 4a: so i figured this was the only way

day 3: shenzhen. china makes pacific mall look like a hot dog stand
so today i went to shenzhen, china. i crossed the border and entered the motherland… the land i’ve dreaded growing up as a kid. why, you ask? the fobs, the mainlanders… the old chinese men that squat and spit and dont wash their hands… the loud people, the bad drivers… yes i saw most of that today.
but before i talk about that, i went to this REALLY BALLIN’ hotel. the shangri-la hotel in shenzhen. super ballin. and we ate at this ayce dim sum place. i’ll put up pics on facebook. food was amazing, and the place looked amazing too. super super big and fancy.
in contrast to that, we went to this mall… i’m not sure what it’s called, but i went there to get my suit tailored. and mannnnnn this place is NUTS! think pacific mall but BIGGER, and more crowded, and dirtier, and like 1000x more intense. there’s soooo many stores, selling sooo much cheap and fake stuff, and the halls are really narrow and crowded with people, and lots of people just smoking everywhere and there’s 5 floors of this. in front of every small store is some like 20 year old trying to sell you something as you walk by. it’s the most intense personal selling i;ve ever seen. and some of these people sound like the most desperate people ever. like if you dont buy this or that, their family wont have food on the table. seems that tragic. but we had this super nice lady who wasnt like that at all, and she helped us with the tailoring and measuring and stuff. she even let us keep our jackets and bags and stuff at her store, so we didnt have to walk around with it.
my parents said i should get sunglasses… and i guess some of you have told me as well, since some of you guys hate my free dentist shades. DONT HATE. so i bought some ray ban sunglasses, and i bought 3 dress shirts and 3 ties for $40 CDN :P hahaha what’s cheap for ray-ban sunglasses? i got mine for $9 CDN. is that cheap?
so this mall is ridiculous. the kids selling stuff. the amount of dirt cheap fake stuff around. how small each store is. how many stores there are in total. and how big this place is… tomorrow im going back to see how my suit is coming along. im gonna try and buy timberland boots… i think i need a new pair. my old pair has a crack in the bottom.
anyway, tomorrow im going to become a HK citizen! getting my ID and stuff… yeah weird. i dunno, my parents said i should do it. so that’s my day. and man, it;s exhausting to walk everywhere! …surprisingly. so im gonna call it a night, gonna go FLOSS, then sleep really soon. BEFORE 1am.

so unmotivated
you’d think with all this time i’d have lots of it to apply for jobs….
why do i seem so busy, and so unmotivated to apply for jobs. gahh im pretty desperate, and also at the same time so defeated.
the fear of no job for the summer….again… is growing, and causing me to be less and less motivated to apply.
it’;s like i don’t want to get back on the horse of applying, because im scared of falling again and again…

i heard this quote from someone a couple weeks ago, then i heard it again paraphrased on Sunday in Voddie Baucham’s sermon series on Love and Marriage (pt.3, tho i highly encourage you to watch all 4 parts!)
“rather than asking God to give you the right person, ask God to make you the right person”
and from Love and Marriage,
“instead of trying to conquer the person of your dreams, start being the person of theirs”
where is the love?
too many people being fake.
i’m hearing stories from everyone. each is very different, so there is no consistency. things aren’t lining up. everyone is saying something different, so something is fishy…
but ultimately, people need to stop pointing the finger, and stop focusing on what other people are doing, and start focusing on yourself and how you can be the best person, the best friend, the best housemate, the best girlfriend/boyfriend you can be.
rather than wait for the other person to fix the things in their life, or wait for them to be nicer to you or whatever, just start LOVING.
love keeps no record of wrongs, so stop holding onto the past.
just let go,
let go of all the drama, all the bitterness, all the gossip, all the backstabbing, all the rumours, all the fakeness, all the bad
and just love.
